Adventures in East Nashville

Last weekend my boyfriend and I decided to do some exploring in East Nashville.  As you may know (if you live here) it is currently one of the most hip/”up and coming” areas in the greater Nashville area.  Real estate prices are soaring.  People are flocking there and new businesses are popping up frequently.  Thats all hearsay, so OBVIOUSLY we wanted to see what it was all about!!! We went to many of the hot spots, and I have to say I was pretty impressed with it’s character.  They have numerous eclectic shops and restaurants.  Im going to take you on a quick tour of some of the places we stopped!

We started our journey with a dose of caffeine from a local coffee shop called Bongo East.  Bongo Java is a very successful company in Nashville with many coffee shops all over town.  They make a great cup of coffee. Bongo East is one of their many popular locations.

Then we ventured toward a store called Local Honey that sells vintage clothing.  But wait, there’s more!! It’s a hair salon as well. You can see some of the neat stuff they had below.

They had the coolest looking sweater that said, “Netflix and Chill”.  They had these gorgeous rings seen above that would look great with some jeans and a button down. For the record, I’m not one to buy vintage clothing but I do enjoy browsing vintage clothing stores from time to time for inspiration/fun.

Next we went to this fantastic store next door called The Fuselage.  They had even MORE vintage items.  Cool, huh? They carried a lot of handmade  metal signs that are highly coveted right now. You can see pictures below.
I’m pretty sure I’ve turned my boyfriend into a coffee addict because then we went to ANOTHER coffee shop called Barista Parlour. This place was actually voted one of the TOP 25 BEST coffee shops in America. See here. It’s awesome. It’s made out of an old transmission shop. They have food (biscuits/donuts, the Best!!!) chocolate, music on vinyl, a stage, motorcycles sitting around, and the most simplistic process when they ring you up. I think this place is strong at giving off that “new Nashville” vibe. They even sell these cute little mugs with their well designed logo on them. #clutch

We ended our afternoon with some browsing around these tiny shops.  On the way to dinner we saw a really neat hot dog stand called I Dream of Weenie! Then the GRAND FINALE at Rose Pepper for Mexican food (our favorite kind of food). Between the two of us we tried an enchilada, taco and chimichanga. It was delicious! A fun afternoon.

BTW. . . .although VERY festive, I would not take fashion advice from this horse made out of wood chips (currently chilling at the Nashville Omni Hotel).  But don’t worry, I’ve got all your fashion covered! I’ll give you PLENTY of advice.  More to come next week.  Please stay tuned!
